Elixir Cloud FAQs

Is Elixir Cloud a SaaS product?

Yes! Elixir Cloud is cloud-native software-as-a-service (SaaS), meaning it's built from the ground up (from the sky up?) for security, flexibility, efficiency, and reliability.

Note: Lots of CCM vendors who claim to be 'cloud solutions' are not cloud-native. They're cloud-hosted, which basically means they're just running on-premises software in a cloud environment. Cloud-hosted software is often hard to scale, more error-prone, and more susceptible to security issues than cloud-native platforms.

What is Elixir Tango? How is it different from Elixir Cloud?

The name Elixir Tango predates the name Elixir Cloud as Elixir's leading customer communications management (CCM) solution, but they are not the same platform, product, or offering.

Elixir Tango launched in 2010 (followed by Tango+ in 2015). "Elixir Tango" and "Elixir On-Prem" are also sometimes used to refer to certain on-premise implementations of Elixir's CCM platform.

Elixir Cloud launched in 2023, featuring enhanced offerings and use cases to serve the needs of business users. Elixir Cloud replaces the Tango line for new deployments as a full-featured, cloud-native CCM platform.

In summary:

  • Elixir Tango (2010–2023): The name for Elixir's CCM platform prior to the launch of Elixir Cloud. Can refer to both on-premise and cloud deployments, but Tango is not cloud-native. For this reason, you may also hear the name "Elixir On-Prem" used to describe Elixir Tango and Tango+.
  • Elixir Cloud (2023–present): Elixir's fully cloud-native CCM SaaS platform. Elixir Cloud encompasses the capabilities of the Elixir Tango offering and adds unique features and use cases to streamline CCM processes — including many capabilities that aren't possible with cloud-hosted CCM software.
Do I need special training to use Elixir Cloud?

Like any software, you'll need to learn your way around, but Elixir Cloud is specifically designed to be a lot easier to use than other CCM software.

Here are a few of the key features that make Elixir Cloud a place where almost anyone can help make better comms:

  • A clean project navigator with easy folder structures
  • Familiar word processing tools for faster writing
  • Document automation using common templates, business rules, and business logic
  • Easy, drag-and-drop tools for designing
  • The ability to insert customer data into templates without knowing a whole lot of code
  • What-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWIG) document editing — what you make in the designer is what comes out as output
  • Role-based access control (RBAC) and permissions that prevent certain users from making changes they're not supposed to
  • Version history and audit trails in case you make a mistake
  • Built-in commenting, review, and approval workflows to make sure nothing goes out without thorough review

Elixir Cloud is a very powerful tool, but these features make it more approachable for users of all technical skills, from IT professionals to marketing writers and everyone in between.
